Tuesday 10th October, 7pm – Midnight: Das Erste Mal – Artists First Films selected by Florian Meisenberg
Das Erste Mal presents moving image artworks that capture the raw and eccentric beginnings of these contemporary artists' first-ever videos and films.
Thoughtfully selected by artist Florian Meisenberg and presented by David Gryn, Director of Daata, this captivating collection showcases the earliest moving image artworks by artists: Joey Frank, Henry Gunderson, John Henderson, Riley Hooker, Gregory Kalliche, Anna K.E., Prem Krishnamurthy, Nathaniel de Large, Florian Meisenberg, Monica Mirabile, Ben Rivers, Rachel Rossin, Jacolby Satterwhite, Marianna Simnett, John Smith, Viktor Timofeev, and Francis Upritchard.
Short, earthy, and delightfully quirky, these artworks offer a tantalising glimpse into the creative seeds that blossomed into these artists' wonderful future moving image artworks.
The event was conceived to coincide with Frieze Art Fair and Florian Meisenberg’s solo show at neighbouring Kate MacGarry Gallery and hosted in our cinema and will allow visitors to come and go as they please. The works will be screened again on the 13th of October during Daata’s event with Rosie Gibbens.
