Friday 7th October, 6 — 9pm : Hackney Heritage Talks
Conservation of London boroughs, especially of Hackney — throughout its early industrialisation stages to restructured economies — has long been a core discussion topic between city dwellers, council members and developers amidst shifting times and interests. How do we work to ensure these redevelopments are monitored and controlled in a way that doesn’t strip the borough’s rich historic buildings of their character and distinctiveness, with respect paid to its past and future?
Join the Hackney Society at Shoreditch Arts Club within the iconic TEA Building for an important and timely discussion on architectural changes, where we will be hearing from Amr Assaad, Director of Buckley Gray Yeoman about the long history of the Tea Building and Shoreditch Arts Club; from Gordon Shrigley about our plaque campaign, the work of our Planning Group, and his new book Hackney Buildings and People; from Rob Briggs on the Buildings at Risk Group; and from Janet Chapman about some of the Hackney Society’s exciting ideas for 2026.
