Friday 17th April, 6:30 – 10pm: The Philosophy Edit with Frieze Connect

Co-developed with our partners at Frieze Connect, Shoreditch Arts Club introduces a new series of events designed to intrigue, reflect cultural conversations and bridge communities in our East London space.

For the first event in the series, we are collaborating with philosophy-based magazine perediza for an evening reframing art philosophy as a practical toolkit for looking, thinking and speaking about art. The Philosophy Edit introduces accessible methods from classic aesthetic theory and art philosophy, helping you move beyond passive spectatorship into active inquiry.

Leading the lectures in the cinema are Dr. Vanessa Brassey, Co-Director of the Centre for Philosophy and Art at King’s College London and Dr. Angela Breitenbach, Professor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge.

Artists featured include Duncan Poulton, Giuseppe Parrinello; music by Brad M.

Guests are invited to approach perediza guides, identifiable by their badges, and begin placing the evening’s ideas into practice through discourse. The evening concludes socially: a drink in hand, a zine to take home, and a philosophical revelation. Upon receipt of your ticket, you will be allocated to either Group A Lecture or Group B Lecture. Please ensure you arrive at your designated lecture on time.
