Patrick Goddard –Whoopsie’s Dream

  • Shoreditch Arts Club 6 Redchurch Street London, England United Kingdom (map)

Tuesday 20th June, 7 – 9pm: Patrick Goddard – Whoopsie’s Dream

Patrick Goddard primarily creates video, sculpture and installation as well as working with photography, painting and drawing. His politically loaded and narrative based works undermine themselves with a self-defeating black comedy as they chart the artist’s fumbled attempts to create a personal and political integrity. Works focus on a range of topics: from ecology, the Anthropocene and the animal; to race politics, gentrification, and urbanization.

This 20-minute surreal comedy, building on Goddard’s  previous film Animal Antics, again features as antagonist the talking dog Whoopsie, this time as she narrates her recent nightmare to the viewer. As in the previous film, this Bichon frise lap dog reveals herself to be something of a xenophobe as her dream reflects her anxieties and prejudices around immigration, queer liberation and the Other.

Film presented in collaboration with Seventeen.
