Thursday 30th May, 7 – 8pm: George Henry Longly in Conversation with Prof. Victor Buchli
Coinciding with London Gallery Weekend, join George Henry Longly for an artist talk with Professor Victor Buchli about his practice and his new film 'ISIT II'. The talk will follow on from their initial collaboration in 2016 on the "We All Love Your Life" exhibition and publication at Red Bull Arts in NYC, set in a fictional space station. George also contributed to ETHNO-ISS, a collaborative research project led by Victor between UCL and the European Space Agency.
George Henry Longly’s practice encompasses a diverse range of mediums, including sculpture, painting, installation, curation, sound and video. Solo exhibitions include “Microgravities” at Nicoletti (London 2023), “Benthos” at Galerie Kandlhofer (Vienna 2019), “The Tissue Equivalent” at Palais de Tokyo (Paris 2018), and “We All Love Your Life” at Red Bull Arts, New York (2016). His work has been featured in group exhibitions at Nottingham Contemporary, Kunsthal Aarhus, ICA London, and Lisson Gallery.
Victor Buchli is Professor of Material Culture within the Material Culture Group at UCL and works on the material culture of Low Earth Orbit, architecture, domesticity, the archaeology of the recent past, and critical understandings of materiality and new technologies. Currently he is Principal Investigator of the 5 year European Research Council funded research project: ETHNO-ISS: An Ethnography of an Extraterrestrial Society: the International Space Station.
ISIT II will be on view at the club from 23rd May – 26th September.
